Post by SwittersPost by Julian BondDoes anyone know if WSB at Donington is using the Melbourne loop?
But I am curious though, as to which genius thought that England at the
end of March, would be a good idea for a world series race.
Sure, we might get glorious sunshine and temps of upto a whopping 15C, but
I wouldn't even plan a BBQ in March, let alone an event like this.
Indeed. We often do have a glorious early spring. But then we've also
had meetings snowed off at Brands Hatch at the same time of year.
Whatever, it's still going to be a bit cold for camping no matter what.
As for the Melbourne Loop, the circuit has regained it's FIM certificate
and I thought it wasn't long enough without the loop. I believe they've
moved the Esses further back up the straight and made it faster and less
of a dead stop kink. The big question is whether they knocked down the
building that stops you seeing[1] up the straight from the Melbourne
banking. Hasn't the Dunlop bridge gone as well?
[1]Not just at Donington, but most other circuits as well, the owners
should really walk round the whole circuit on race day and look at sight
lines. There's way too many places where you can't see enough of the
circuit because of the shape of the banking, trees, buildings or brick
walls.
